If you are riding two-up, the law demands that the passenger, the person in the back, must have bars or something to hang onto while riding. This law is known as Malorie’s Law in honor of a Texas A&M student killed in a motorcycle accident in 2010.
This law will mainly effect bikes that were originally designed for one-up riding that has had a passenger pillion added to the back, but that has no backrest or other means of holding on except for arms around the rider. Most cruiser type bikes have a backrest and/or other means for the passenger to hold on.
If you ride in Texas, with a passenger, be aware of this new law that look effect 1/1/15.
